Meow Meow Meme Award

My friend Mario gave me the Meow Meow Meme blog award a few days ago. Can you believe that?! I hadn't even posted in over two weeks because Mom was "too busy." But Mario still liked me and my blog enough to pass the award along. So sweet. Thanks, Mario!

Like some other blog awards, you're supposed to answer some questions. I think this may actually be a kitty award (the first hint was the award title -- Meow Meow Meme), but I'm just gonna answer everything anyway. Here goes...

1. Where do you like to hang out?

That's simple...my princess tent, of course! I like to hide in there and spy on Mom. I can hide and spy at the same time.

My second favorite spot to hang out in is under Mom's bed. I've tunneled through all of the stuff she stores under there. I can do whatever I want under there, 'cause she can't reach me. Pretty cool!

2. Who is your favorite kitty crush?

I love all kitties. Seriously. I just like to sit and stare at kitties. If a kitty comes up to me, I get all bashful and hide behind Mom. ("Bashful" sounds better than admitting I can get scared of a kitty...)

Here are some pictures of me staring at Jingles over at his house. I'm super nice to Jingles and I don't bother him at all. I just like to stare at him! (I do the same thing with Piglet and Mel and Pepper. I think those are all the kitties I know in person...)

3. What is your favorite scent?

This is a tough one to answer. I really like soggy bully sticks. Oh, and squeaky toy stuffing. And there's the all time favorite...pee mail!

Just for fun, here's a close-up of my super sniffer.

4. What's your favorite TV show?

I don't watch TV at all. In fact, the only time TV ever catches my attention is when the Toyota commercial is on that has the squeaky toys in it. Here's a video of Mom playing the commercial on our computer just to show how I react to it...

5. What's your favorite movie?

Well, I don't watch TV, and I don't really watch movies, either. So instead of a regular movie, I'm gonna show you my favorite video of me! I think that works.

This video is special to Mom and me 'cause it's the very first video she took of me. This was the morning after I met my new Mom. She and my foster Mom both thought I'd be frightened from the big move and my new surroundings. But what did I do when I got to my new house? I unpacked my toys and dove into my new sister's toys, too. Less than 12 hours after moving in, I was rolling on toys. Nobody could believe that I adapted so quickly. I think it's just 'cause it was meant to be. Oh, and there were lots of cool toys here, too...

6. What is your best piece of feline wisdom?

Well, I obviously can't write about "feline" wisdom, but I can share some "canine"...

Perfect your stink eye look. It really helps in properly training your Mom. For example, this is my latest stink eye (the latest that was caught on camera, at least). I'm basically telling Mom to put DOWN the stupid camera and take me out to potty.

Those are all of my Meow Meow Meme Award questions. Thanks again, Mario!

I Got a Shout-Out

I got a blog award the other day. The most interesting thing about it, though, is that the award was from someone new...and a person! Lots of other doggies read my blog. Kitties, too. (I love kitties!) And I know some people who keep track of me this way (Hi, Grandma! Hi, Kathleen!). But I've never, ever gotten a blog award from a person I didn't know...and he's not even a person who blogs about animals!

I was honored.

My new friend's name is Dan. Here's a link to his blog. Dan's a writer, and that's the stuff that he blogs about. Here's what he wrote about my blog when he gave me the blog award:

Busy, Busy, Buttons – This site has nothing to do with writing or publishing. In fact, the author of the blog doesn’t even have opposable thumbs. Buttons, a ten-year-old Shih Tzu blogs about life as a (pampered) pooch, her occasional power struggles with her mother, and her dazzling collection of squeaky toys. I don’t really remember how I came upon this site, but I’m so glad I did; it’s a lot of fun. I defy you to read this blog in a bad mood and not be cheered up at least a little.

Isn't that awesome?! Thanks, Dan!

Of course the rules of the award are that you're supposed to tell stuff about yourself and then pass the award on to others. So, here are some things about me...

1. I love squeaky toys.

2. I don't like going poo in the rain. (He he he!)

3. I love kitties but Mom won't let me have one. I really, really want a kitty.

4. I love squeaky toys.

5. I'm a rescue doggie. Mom just adopted me a year ago. So I'm spoiled now, but haven't ever been this spoiled before. I'm living the good life!

6. I'm slowly working on a diabolical plan to get Mom to sleep in my little dog bed while I take over the big bed.

7. I love squeaky toys.

I'm not always the best at following rules, so instead of passing this award on to others, I'm going to show you a picture of me sleeping with my carrot. Enjoy!

He he he...

There's No Place Like Home

I'm home! Mom's back and we're both HOME again!

Sorry...got a little excited there. See, last week Mom packed up some of our stuff and we both went on vacations. I went to visit some friends who have kitty cats and Mom went on a long trip with her friends. I absolutely LOVE kitties, so I was excited. I missed Mom, though, and I was super duper happy when I saw her today. I gave her LOTS of kisses...and I'm usually stingy with my kisses.

When we got back to our house, I rushed around to make sure all of my toys were still in the right spots. Then I was so tired that I just totally zonked out on my bed.

There's really no place like home.

Mom's Meeting

Mom had a meeting to go to last night. I didn't want her to go, though, so I had a little hissy fit. (I'm not proud of it, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.) I started barking when she tried to leave. When she came back inside, I planted myself right in front of the door. She wasn't leaving home without me!

So you know what she did? She ended up taking me with her. I was really excited about that. I won, right?!

Mom's meeting was at a house where some other doggies lived. I got to meet them all. I was a little freaked out, I'll admit, because I can be pretty shy and the other doggies all really, really wanted to sniff me. That got a little annoying.

But you know what changed things? I saw that the doggies had A KITTY! I absolutely love kitties. I kept trying to follow the kitty around...sneakily, of course. Here's a picture of me trying to sneak close to the kitty.

The kitty's name is Scooby, and he looks a LOT like me. He's white with tan spots, too!

Here's another picture of me trying to get close to Scooby. I was being sniffed, though, by Buttons. That's right...there was a black Shih Tzu at the house named Buttons! She's a baby, though -- only 8 months old.

There were lots of times of chaos. Lots of chaos. Mom says it was 'cause there were so many little doggies all trying to sniff each other. This picture's kinda blurry, but that was 'cause Mom doesn't know how to work her phone camera yet and, well, we doggies were sort of all over the place.

So along with Scooby and Buttons, I got to meet Skeeter (a Chihuahua who's 5) and Sammie (a Golden Retriever who is only 3 months old).

Overall, I'm glad that I got to go with Mom, even though I was freaked out by being sniffed so much. I did get to see a kitty after all!

I love kitties.

Home Sweet Home

Mom's finally home, and I'm home now, too. Whew! It was a long couple of weeks for both of us 'cause of Grandpa being so sicky and then passing away. Mom said his people funeral was yesterday, so now we're both home to stay.

I had sleepovers at Molly's house a few times over the last two weeks. Molly was nice to me. She shared her toys with me. She's got a tree trunk of squirrels just like me!

Molly shared her doggie bed with me, too. I loved to nap in her bed.

Mom packed one of my doggie beds, so I napped there sometimes, too. Molly didn't like my bed, though, so she didn't snooze in it.

Molly's Mom took both of us for walks each day. That was cool. I'm not used to walking that much, so I was pooped! In this picture, I was taking advantage of the cool tile right inside the door.

Molly was pooped after some of our walks, too. So we were pooped together.

Don't worry, though. I still saved some of my energy for my sneakiness. I've GOT to be sneaky! I had to investigate lots of stuff at Molly's house...even if it meant burrowing under a doggie bed to get there...

There was one HUGE downside to my most recent sleepover at Molly's house. Molly's Mom thought both of us girls needed a bath! Augh! I hate baths...

Molly's not a fan of baths, either.

I tried to escape, but sadly, the tub was too deep for my little legs. Bummer.

Mom was very happy that I was so clean when she picked me up last night. As for me, I'd rather stink...

So Mom got all sorts of reports about how good I was on all of my sleepovers. Unfortunately, though, the report from the most recent sleepover wasn't so good. I was pretty comfortable at Molly's house this time, so I sort of resorted to some of my old antics. Molly's Mom told my Mom that I...
  1. Dumped over Molly's toy box.
  2. Barked like crazy at a person working in a drive-thru window.
  3. Discovered my love for "kitty crunchies" from Piglet's litter box.
  4. And stalked Piglet like crazy. (Sorry, but I just had to know what that kitty was up to at all times!)
Mom says that we're gonna have to talk about my behavior... HE HE HE!

Visiting Friends

Mom and I went on a car ride yesterday to visit with our friends Ronda and Molly!

Before we could leave home, though, Mom made sure to put all my new seat belt stuff on me. This is the first time I've ever warn my new harness. I didn't mind it too much, even though I don't look too thrilled in the pictures...

Mom says the important thing is that I'm now safe when we go for rides. I won't turn into a doggie projectile and fly out of our car if we get in a wreck. Seat belts sound like a good plan to me!

Now, back to the important stuff...my visit with Molly! Here's Molly...

Molly was pretty excited to see Mom and I when we got to their house. I said "hi" but then I zeroed in on something very, very important...Molly's TOY BOX!

She was nice and let me play with all her toys. And I did play with ALL of them! She's even got a tree trunk of squirrels toy, just like I have!

I played and played and played with Molly's toys...but then something else caught my eye. I saw PIGLET! I became a little obsessed with Molly's kitty Piglet. I stared and stared and stared at her. I tried to sneaky close to her and actually managed to get near her. But then she bolted upstairs. I just wanted to sniff her.

So I sat at the bottom of the stairs and watched for any signs of Piglet. Molly didn't seem to care at all about Piglet. I was surprised by that. How could she not try to sneaky up to sniff Piglet???

Mom and Ronda finally went upstairs so I got to go, too, and I searched for Piglet up there. Found her!

I stared and stared some more. But then Mom made me go back downstairs with her, so I spent some time downstairs looking for Piglet (who stayed upstairs) or anything that smelled like Piglet. Had a bit of a problem in my snooping, though. I sort of got myself a little stuck in the corner between the couch and the love seat.

Mom had to get me out of there 'cause I was really super stuck. I tried to squeeze back there again later, but Mom wouldn't let me. She figured I'd get stuck again.

Piglet actually came back downstairs after a while, so I started staring and staring at her again.

I don't ever ignore toys, so Mom was surprised that I was so obsessed with Piglet. She's afraid that she's going to have to get a kitty for me. I agree!

Oh -- and one last thing. I had NOTHING to do with this:

That toy destruction was ALL Molly. I had nothing to do with it...and Mom and Ronda can vouch for me. (I'm not messin' with you, either!)
