Weekend at Grandma's

Mom and I went to spend the weekend with Grandma again! Here are my highlights...

I supervised Mom's driving on the trip up to Grandma's house.

I enjoyed being Free-Range Buttons in Grandma's backyard!

I hogged the bed again, of course. And I rolled on some toys. And then I supervised Mom's driving on the way back home.

And then I slept for two days to recover from all of my free-range fun.

Free-Range Buttons

Mom and I went to visit Grandma again this weekend! You know what I like best about Grandma's house? I can be "Free-Range Buttons." At least that's what Mom calls it.

See, Grandma has a really big yard and it's got a fence all of the way around it. You know what that means? Freedom! NO leash! I can explore and sniff and check stuff out and even roll in the grass! I get to just enjoy being me and being a doggie.

Here's a pic of me enjoying the space in Grandma's yard and sniffing some pee-mail from my cousin Hoss.

Checking out some more stuff on my way back inside...

I didn't have to wear my leash at all this weekend...until we came home. It was awesome!

But I guess I let the excitement of being Free-Range Buttons get to me this weekend. When we pulled into our parking spot at our house I "accidentally" jumped out of the car before Mom could put my leash on me. Oops!

Never fear, though. I knew exactly what I was supposed to do. I pottied in the front yard and then I ran to the door and waited for Mom to let me inside.

I LOVE being Free-Range Buttons. Don't ever want to lose that privilege!

New Toy from Grandma

Ack! It's been a full week since I've posted. Good grief! That's just terrible. Mom claims she's been "busy." I'm telling you, the woman has her priorities all goofed up...

Anyway, last weekend when Mom and I went to visit Grandma for Mother's Day, I found a new toy to play with. It's a cool stuffy ball! I carried it around with me while we were there. Mom kept laughing at me and telling me that it was "not a toy" and it was "not for doggies." That didn't stop me, of course. Mom said it was a "Cubs collector's item" of Grandma's. Whatever that means.

If I say that it's a toy, then it's a toy.

And guess what...Grandma agreed with me. She even told me that I could HAVE her stuffy ball. Mom forgot to pack it up for me when we got ready to leave, but Grandma noticed. She even brought it all of the way out to the car for me! She told Mom, "don't forget Buttons' new ball!" HA!

My Grandma seriously rocks.

So here's me getting ready to roll on the new toy when we got home.

Playing...

More rolling on (OK, maybe not "on" but "near") the ball...

Yep. My Grandma rocks!

Visiting Friends

Mom and I went on a car ride yesterday to visit with our friends Ronda and Molly!

Before we could leave home, though, Mom made sure to put all my new seat belt stuff on me. This is the first time I've ever warn my new harness. I didn't mind it too much, even though I don't look too thrilled in the pictures...

Mom says the important thing is that I'm now safe when we go for rides. I won't turn into a doggie projectile and fly out of our car if we get in a wreck. Seat belts sound like a good plan to me!

Now, back to the important stuff...my visit with Molly! Here's Molly...

Molly was pretty excited to see Mom and I when we got to their house. I said "hi" but then I zeroed in on something very, very important...Molly's TOY BOX!

She was nice and let me play with all her toys. And I did play with ALL of them! She's even got a tree trunk of squirrels toy, just like I have!

I played and played and played with Molly's toys...but then something else caught my eye. I saw PIGLET! I became a little obsessed with Molly's kitty Piglet. I stared and stared and stared at her. I tried to sneaky close to her and actually managed to get near her. But then she bolted upstairs. I just wanted to sniff her.

So I sat at the bottom of the stairs and watched for any signs of Piglet. Molly didn't seem to care at all about Piglet. I was surprised by that. How could she not try to sneaky up to sniff Piglet???

Mom and Ronda finally went upstairs so I got to go, too, and I searched for Piglet up there. Found her!

I stared and stared some more. But then Mom made me go back downstairs with her, so I spent some time downstairs looking for Piglet (who stayed upstairs) or anything that smelled like Piglet. Had a bit of a problem in my snooping, though. I sort of got myself a little stuck in the corner between the couch and the love seat.

Mom had to get me out of there 'cause I was really super stuck. I tried to squeeze back there again later, but Mom wouldn't let me. She figured I'd get stuck again.

Piglet actually came back downstairs after a while, so I started staring and staring at her again.

I don't ever ignore toys, so Mom was surprised that I was so obsessed with Piglet. She's afraid that she's going to have to get a kitty for me. I agree!

Oh -- and one last thing. I had NOTHING to do with this:

That toy destruction was ALL Molly. I had nothing to do with it...and Mom and Ronda can vouch for me. (I'm not messin' with you, either!)

We Had Visitors

Last night a friend of Mom's came over to visit with us. Her name is Jennifer. I've seen her before a couple of times. Jennifer brought her doggy with her, too. His name is Dallas. I'd never met Dallas before. Here's what he looks like.

Mom thought it was a little funny to see me with Dallas 'cause I'm a little doggie, but Dallas is even littler. He's less than half of my size, so he made me look really big. That doesn't happen very often!

Anyway, Jennifer brought a toy over for Dallas to play with. I woulda shared mine, of course, but she thought he'd want his own. So, yes...I stole his toy a time or two. I am a toyaholic, after all! (Grandma called me that today and I think it sorta fits!) I can't be held responsible for any toy stealing.

Here's Dallas with his toy.

Dallas didn't play much with his fish toy, though. You know what he did a lot of the time he was here visiting? He did THIS...

Yes, that's Dallas's nose stuck right in my booty! I got a little tired of that. There's only so many times a girl can get sniffed there, you know.

He did sniff my nose a couple of times....but it was mostly the other end. He seemed to have a fondness for "Ode 'de Buttons."

Dallas seemed to like my new doggie bed, too. (I had to keep an eye on him.)

And when he wanted to go nite nite for a while, you know what Jennifer did? She put a blanket over his head. I've never seen such a thing! There was this blue blanket, then, that kept moving around on my doggie bed!

He decided to nite nite on the couch, too. Again, I had to keep an eye on this because I wasn't quite sure what was up with that "blanket over the head" thing.

"Are you in there, Dallas?"

"Yep. He's in there. I see his little head sticking out!"

Mom and I had a great time visiting with Jennifer and Dallas, but I was super tired when they left our house. Between the constant booty sniffing and the monitoring of the blanket-over-Dallas stuff, it just wore me out. I went straight to bed.

I'll let you know if I ever figure out what was up with that blanket over his head...
