Washing Grandma's Car

Guess what...Mom and I went to see Grandma again this past weekend! This time I took my new Snoopy with me. I played with him in the car.

Snoopy makes a great pillow for naps, too!

While we were at Grandma's house, Mom and I went for a ride in Grandma's car.

"Yep...corn. That means we're near Grandma's house!"

We took Grandma's car to a car wash. I kept close watch on the action outside of the car.

"What the heck is all of that noise?!"

The car wash scared me a little. I'll admit it.

And I kept watching outside to see if those washer things were about done.

When we left the car wash, I was super tired. I could barely stay awake on the drive back to Grandma's house.

Grandma was super happy that Mom and I washed her car. And I had fun, of course, romping in Grandma's yard, too. I love visiting my Grandma! Mom and Grandma did some other stuff over the weekend, but the car wash was the "highlight" for me, I think.

On the ride back to our house, Mom said I acted like a drama queen. I panted like crazy most of the drive because the sun made me hot. I couldn't help it! Mom even had the air conditioning going full blast on me, but I was a panting fool anyway!

Well, when I wasn't using Snoopy for a pillow, of course!

Visiting Grandma

Last weekend, Mom and I went to visit Grandma, and we stayed at Grandma's house ALL weekend long! There was lots of stuff going on. Here's my "photo essay" of the weekend...

I supervised Mom's driving on the way to Grandma's house. It's a long trip.

When we see corn, we know we're getting close!

You know I love being at Grandma's house for lots of reasons...but the main one is 'cause she's got a huge yard with a fence. I'm Free-Range Buttons -- NO leash! So here's me checking stuff out.

Mom took this pic upside down 'cause she was bending over, scratching my booty.

More Free-Range Buttons... Just look at all of that yard for me to sniff!

Mom even took a short video of me investigating stuff in the yard. Mom was hot and wanted to go inside. I took my time, though, checking pee-mail from my doggy cousins.

And then I did a lot of napping in Grandma's air conditioning.

When my uncle came to visit, I decided to hide.

And at night time, I hogged the bed (of course!).

On Saturday morning, there was a big 5K run/walk in the town where Grandma lives. It was held in memory of my Grandpa and raised money for Parkinson's research. (Some of you may remember that Grandpa just died last year from that icky bad disease.) I stayed at Grandma's house and Mom went and did the walk. So, here's me posing with Mom's race number. She got to be # 1.

After the 5K, there was more time for me to spend sniffing stuff outside. Can you see me in this pic? I'm that little tiny white dot by the little cabin!

That afternoon, I got to go watch a parade in town with Mom.

I wasn't sure about some of the noises. The fire engines were loud and the sounds from these little go-carts made me get a little scared, too.

And then later that night, I hogged the bed once again. And if you look closely, you'll see that I'm sinking down into the bed. Yep...our air mattress sprung a leak!

And then the next day it was time for us to drive all of the way back to our house. When we stopped to get gas, I guarded the car. I made sure to bark at EVERY person I saw at that gas station. I thought everyone needed to know that I was on the job.

Then I supervised Mom's driving some more.

And you know what I did when I got home? I had to recover from all of the busy fun I had visiting Grandma!

My New Car Seat

You've probably seen pictures of my special seat in the car. Mom got a booster for me so that I could be safe and still see out the window. She puts my pink seat belt on me and it attaches to my seat. Pretty spiffy, huh?

Well, when Mom and I go for rides in Grandma's car, I don't have my special seat. Mom takes my spot up front, so I have to sit in the back. Without my booster, it's hard to see out the windows. But, you know me...I figured it out. Here's where I sit now:

Perfect view out all of the windows of the car! And if anyone is behind Grandma's car, they get a good view of MY behind! He he he...

Mom turned the flash on for this next picture 'cause she thought the shadows were messing up her pictures. Of course MY view was seriously messed up when I was blinded by the stupid camera...

Pretty nice booster seat I discovered for myself, don't you think? I refuse to ride in the back of Grandma's car anymore without jumping up there...

The FedEx Package

Mom and I found a sticker on our door this morning from the FedEx people. The sticker said that they tried to deliver a package but couldn't since we didn't answer the door. (We were probably still sleeping.) So, the sticker said we needed to go pick it up.

Mom thought that was a little weird because we hadn't ordered anything. So, Mom called the FedEx people to ask if it was really our package. Mom gave the woman on the phone our address and said her name.

The woman asked Mom if anyone else lived here. Mom said, "Just my dog, Buttons." And the woman replied, "The package is addressed to the DOG!" The FedEx woman thought that was pretty funny. Nothing funny about it in my opinion. I like to get packages!

Anyway, the woman told Mom that I needed a "government-issued photo ID" to pick up my package. Just one problem there, though...I don't have one! Mom asked the woman what she should do since I'm a doggie and don't have a driver's license. The woman suggested Mom just take me with her to the FedEx office to pick up my package.

So that's what we did. We got in the car this afternoon and headed to the FedEx place.

I was pretty excited when we got there. I ran to the building.

The woman at the FedEx place thought it was funny that I came with Mom. Mom told her about the package and that we didn't have a "government-issued photo ID" for me. Mom told her that the FedEx woman on the phone said that I should come with Mom to get the package. The FedEx woman at the place thought it was pretty funny, too, that I got a package. Thankfully, though, the she said that we could just use Mom's ID, and she let us have my package. I guess she believed us that I didn't have an ID!

The FedEx woman asked Mom, "Just what did your DOG order from Amazon.com?!" Mom told her that we didn't know what was in my package because it was a birthday present. The FedEx woman thought that was pretty funny, too. So Mom told her that it was a present from another dog who lives out west. And then the FedEx woman thought Mom was completely nuts.

Anyway, here's a picture of me at the FedEx place. (Yes, I'm sticking my tongue out at the FedEx woman who laughed about me getting a package.) That's my package on the counter with me.

Mom made me wait until we got home to open my package. Turns out that it was from my friend Mattie. He sent me a book called "GoD and DoG." Mom loves the YouTube video about it. I can't wait for Mom to read my book to me!

Thanks for the book, Mattie! And thanks to the FedEx people for a good laugh today...and for accepting Mom's ID, of course!

Visiting Friends

Mom and I went on a car ride yesterday to visit with our friends Ronda and Molly!

Before we could leave home, though, Mom made sure to put all my new seat belt stuff on me. This is the first time I've ever warn my new harness. I didn't mind it too much, even though I don't look too thrilled in the pictures...

Mom says the important thing is that I'm now safe when we go for rides. I won't turn into a doggie projectile and fly out of our car if we get in a wreck. Seat belts sound like a good plan to me!

Now, back to the important stuff...my visit with Molly! Here's Molly...

Molly was pretty excited to see Mom and I when we got to their house. I said "hi" but then I zeroed in on something very, very important...Molly's TOY BOX!

She was nice and let me play with all her toys. And I did play with ALL of them! She's even got a tree trunk of squirrels toy, just like I have!

I played and played and played with Molly's toys...but then something else caught my eye. I saw PIGLET! I became a little obsessed with Molly's kitty Piglet. I stared and stared and stared at her. I tried to sneaky close to her and actually managed to get near her. But then she bolted upstairs. I just wanted to sniff her.

So I sat at the bottom of the stairs and watched for any signs of Piglet. Molly didn't seem to care at all about Piglet. I was surprised by that. How could she not try to sneaky up to sniff Piglet???

Mom and Ronda finally went upstairs so I got to go, too, and I searched for Piglet up there. Found her!

I stared and stared some more. But then Mom made me go back downstairs with her, so I spent some time downstairs looking for Piglet (who stayed upstairs) or anything that smelled like Piglet. Had a bit of a problem in my snooping, though. I sort of got myself a little stuck in the corner between the couch and the love seat.

Mom had to get me out of there 'cause I was really super stuck. I tried to squeeze back there again later, but Mom wouldn't let me. She figured I'd get stuck again.

Piglet actually came back downstairs after a while, so I started staring and staring at her again.

I don't ever ignore toys, so Mom was surprised that I was so obsessed with Piglet. She's afraid that she's going to have to get a kitty for me. I agree!

Oh -- and one last thing. I had NOTHING to do with this:

That toy destruction was ALL Molly. I had nothing to do with it...and Mom and Ronda can vouch for me. (I'm not messin' with you, either!)

My New Car Seat

Mom had a surprise for me tonight. (No, it wasn't another squeaky toy...darn it!) She got me a special seat for our car!

This is how I used to have to sit in the car so I could see out the window.

Mom said that although it's adorable, it's not very safe. She was always afraid that I was gonna fall over when she turned a corner or something.

My new seat puts me way up high, practically as high as Mom is! No trouble at all looking out the window now! Mom says that she's gonna get me a special harness, too, so that I'll be super-duper safe when we go for rides. I don't know about that harness idea...but at least I can see out!

Here's a picture of me checking out my new view.

Yeah...that's my booty. So maybe I wasn't entirely cooperative when Mom was trying to take pictures. In my defense, though, I was a little excited about the new view...

Beep Beep Beep

I'm in charge of guarding the place when Mom's in the shower. Something really weird happened tonight, though. I was sitting on the bath mat, chewing away on my rawhide, when all of the sudden something beeped. I couldn't figure out where that sound was coming from.

BEEP.

Sounded like it was outside of the bathroom, so I went to investigate. But then when I was in the hallway, it sounded like the ceiling was beeping. Weird.

BEEP.

Mom got out of the shower and she heard it, too. I was a little wigged-out at that point, though, 'cause the ceiling kept beeping at me. Mom said not to worry. She said it something called a smoke detector. If there's a fire and we're nite-nite, the beeps would start and they'd tell us to wake up and get outside. That's cool. Nobody wants to get hurted in a fire.

BEEP.

But we didn't have a fire tonight, so why was that thing beeping?

BEEP.

Mom said it was 'cause the battery was starting to get old. The smoke detector was telling us that it needed a new battery.

BEEP.

That beeping was driving Mom and I both CRAZY. It just kept going! So we went on a ride to the store and we boughted a new battery for the smoke detector. Now it's happy and it's not beeping at us anymore. Whew! Problem solved.

And I got a car ride out of the deal, so that rocks.

Hmmm...I wonder if they make a squeaky toy detector that would beep when squeaky toys are nearby. I'd get me one of those! But then again, I guess I'm sort of a squeaky toy detector myself!
