Pathology Report

My surgery was a few days ago now, and Mom's still calling me FrankenButt.  I don't think I'm going to live this one down for a while.  Hope my fur grows back fast...

We've been hanging out at home since my surgery.  I've been doing my best to act pathetic.  Mom knows I don't feel so good yet, though, so I don't have to do much to get her attention.

I sometimes still get a little loopy from the pain meds.  I used my water bowl as a pillow yesterday.  (Mom added that Snoopy band aid via Photoshop 'cause she didn't want anyone squeamish to get sick if they saw my FrankenButt incision.)

I ended up napping with my ear in my water bowl at one point, too.  Oops.

The vet called Mom yesterday with the pathology report.  The mass in my mouth was sent off, and so was the lump from my rump.  We needed to be sure neither was anything icky.  We sort of got bad news, though.  The mass from my mouth was o.k., but the lump on my hiney was actually a cancerous tumor.

The vet said that it was a "grade 3" tumor, which is the worst. Invasive, aggressive.  The pathology report, though, just told my vet to keep an eye on it and not treat it.  That's not what they usually do with grade 3, so the vet is going to call the lab to talk about that.  We think maybe it was because the tumor was in a weird spot for the type of tumor is was, and we think it was encapsulated.  If that's the case, we might be o.k.

I go back to the vet on July 11 to have my stitches taken out, and the vet is going to check me over for any other possible tumors.  Also going to check my lymph nodes because grade 3 usually means the lymph nodes are affected, too.

Please think good thoughts and say some prayers for me.  I'm gonna be hiding in my princess tent...

Wordless Wednesday: Getting Stuck

I just got my head stuck between my tent and tunnel...again...

Oops.

Replacement Flamingo

If you know me, then you know of my fondness for squeaky toys.  And you probably know that my "fondness" is probably more like an "obsession."  I play with multiple toys every day.  (Mom also steps on multiple squeakies every day.)

It's not often that I continuously pick the same toy to play with, though. I really do enjoy my selection.  However, I did sort of develop a "favorite" of sorts over the last two years.  It's my pink flamingo.  I dig him out at least once a week.

Mom started to have issues with him, though, 'cause she said he was getting really gross.  His wings are crunchy from my slobbers, and he's not the right color anymore.  He has a few big holes in his tummy, and his legs would probably fall out if I tugged hard enough.  She can't wash the crunchies off 'cause she's afraid he'll fall apart.

I gotta give Mom credit, though, 'cause she did a very good thing.  She went looking on the internet, did some detective work, and she actually found me a NEW flamingo that is identical to my old one!

She wanted to take a picture of it after she gave it to me, but I was too excited about it.  I told her "HANDS OFF!"

Would you believe she stole it from me anyway?!  New flamingo is on the right. Old, crunchy, holey, flamingo is on the left.

Right after she took that picture, of course, I stole him right back.  It was rude of her to give me the new flamingo and then take him back for silly pictures!

I took him under the bed, where she couldn't get to it.  (See my tail sticking out?)

Then Mom got this pic of me playing under the bed.

I just wanted to play in peace with my new, replacement flamingo, though, so I left the bedroom and went into the privacy of my Princess Tent in the living room.  Would you believe she invaded that privacy, too?!

She finally left me alone, and I played and played and played until I wore myself out.  Then while I rested, I also supervised Mom from the Princess Tent's tunnel, with the new flamingo still in my mouth.

This is the first time in the 2.5 years I've lived with Mom that she's had to get me a replacement toy.  I'm sure glad she did, though.

On a not-so-nice note, Mom says I'm overdue for a haircut 'cause she can't see my eyes anymore.  Uh oh...

Tilted Tent 2

My princess tent may still be tilted, but it's also quite useful in its current state.  For example, there's a nice new little cubby-hole under the corner that's up in the air.

Well, it would be an even nicer little cubby-hole if it weren't for the camera being in my face.

There's a serious invasion of privacy going on here...

Tilted Tent

My Princess Tent seems to have a bit of a problem these days.  See how it's all crooked and the one front corner is up in the air?

Was it a tornado like in the Wizard of Oz?  No.  Was it an earthquake?  Nope.  Hurricane?  Not a chance.

That was done by a Buttons.

I "may" have been trying to push my toy box out of the tent through the side...maybe... He he he.

But let's be honest.  Shouldn't there be a door there anyway?!

Packages NOT for Me???

Toys and cookies come in boxes, so of course I was REALLY excited when I saw this the other day. Yes...we had TWO packages at our door!!!

Much to my dismay, however, you know what I was told??? That little box on top had my allergy pills in it. Bleeeech!!! And the BIG box on bottom...you know what was in that one? Parts for our car!

Mom broke the little motor that works her car window. Her door was just lovely for a while until the parts came in. And if you look closely, you can see that she had packing tape holding the window up!

Anyway, the bottom line is that we had TWO BOXES at our door and the end result was NO TOYS for Buttons. Isn't that atrocious?! It's totally inhumane. Or something like that.

I think Mom got the hint that I was not a happy pup...not at all. So, she broke out a new toy from her secret stash! Yeah!!!

You remember the world's coolest neighbor who bought me toys to replace the not-a-doggy-toy one that I was playing with? Well this new toy is another one of the ones from our neighbor!

I started right in, squeaking away. (Yes, I may need a haircut soon...but let's not point that out to Mom...)

I got tired of Mom playing paparazzi, so I took the toy into my tent and I squeaked it in the tunnel.

Mom, of course, once again invaded the privacy of my princess tent...

Eventually I decided that I needed more room to play, so I came out of the tent via the tunnel.

And then I just plucked away in the middle of the living room.

So, I guess that worked out o.k. overall. We had two boxes...and Mom ended up getting her car window fixed and I ended up with a new toy. Of course it would have been better if I got more toys... Oh, well.

I don't need no stinking door!

My Birthday...Postponed

Today was my birthday! Can you believe that I'm 11 years old now? I don't feel a day over 6. And if you ask Mom, she'll probably tell you that I don't act a day over 3! He he he.

Anyway, I started out my birthday celebrations by taking an early-morning nap. Mom woke me up way, way too early.

Late this morning, Mom started the true celebrations when she gave me a new TOY. It's a barktini. Cool, huh? I was mesmerized.

Hey, it was 5:00 somewhere...

I got tired of the paparazzi (a.k.a. Mom), so I took my barktini into my princess tent. And it's fitting that I hide out in there today anyway since it was my birthday present from Mom last year. It's the princess tent's 1-year anniversary!

I glared at the paparazzi from inside my tent.

And do you think Mom would leave me alone in there? Noooo. She invaded the privacy of the princess tent!

Eventually, I just gave up and brought the barktini back out where there was more room to roll.

And roll I did. I even rolled and chewed at the same time!

Played a bit too much, though, and I'm still not feeling the best. So, I flopped half-in-half-out of my princess tent for a nap.

And then that's about when things started to go wrong. Yep. Too much excitement and too sicky of a tummy. Mom and I had to make an emergency trip outside. When we came back inside, I just felt horrible, and I looked as pathetic as I felt.

(It was raining out, too, just to add insult to injury!)

Mom decided to postpone the rest of our birthday celebrations since I wasn't doing so well. Tonight she boiled some hamburger and made white rice for me. That's what my vet says to feed me when I have bad tummy troubles.

I wouldn't eat anything today...but I chowed down on that hamburger and rice. Yummy stuff!

The food in my tummy helped it feel a little better, so I played for just a bit. (Yes, I'm chewing and rolling at the same time again.)

But it didn't last too long. I went back to the place I started my day.

And then I just flopped in the middle of the room, too.

Mom says she still has lots of birthday surprises planned for me. She even ordered me my very own birthday cake! But, all that has to wait until I'm feeling o.k. again. I say "GIVE ME CAKE!" but Mom says it would make me feel worse now. So, I have to wait. Pffffft.

Here's a sneak peek for you!

A Box Bigger Than Me...

About five years ago, I got this HUGE box from my friend Boris. OK...so maybe it wasn't that long ago...it was actually just a couple of weeks...but Mom's been neglecting my blogging duties so it feels like it was five years ago.

Anyway, Boris sent me a box that was a lot bigger than me! When Mom brought the box inside, I was so excited about it that I refused to eat supper. I wouldn't touch my food until after Mom opened that huge surprise!

Yes, I was a little impatient. I even jumped in the box before Mom got the top open all of the way!

But can you blame me?! Check out the HUGE Snoopy and Woodstock that Boris sent me!

I went right to work, playing with Woodstock.

And then I saw Mom take something else out of the box, so I had to check that out, too.

Yeah, my head sorta got in the way of that picture. Here's what Mom had, though:

Boris sent me some BUTTONS that say "I love Buttons!" Isn't that the coolest thing ever?!

But the box wasn't empty yet...there was another surprise in there. Here's me impatiently waiting for Mom to open my last surprise.

I had to check it all out before Mom assembled it.

Then I took a bully stick break while Mom went to work.

TA DAH! Boris sent me a BARN to go with my princess tent!!! It's a new secret hidey spot for me...and a stable for the princess to park her carriage in, of course.

I took a quick tour.

Mom put one of my blankies in the barn, too, to make it more comfy cosy.

Here's me posing with my new hidey spot!

I haven't played in the barn much yet, but Mom says that's because I go in my princess tent all of the time instead. So, she's gonna move my barn into the dining room so I have a hidey spot there, too. Sounds like a good plan to me!

So, after all of the excitement over my huge surprise, I had to take a nap on my new Snoopy.

Thanks to Boris and DogToys.com for my awesome, fantastic, super-duper surprise!
