Turning 13 Years Old!

I'm a teenager now! I turned 13 years old on Sept. 18. Pretty cool, huh?

Mom woke me up in the morning by singing "Happy Birthday" to me.

I was a little grumpy, though, since it was so early.  Then Mom had the audacity to put a princess birthday hat on me. At least I got a present early. The card is from my awesome neighbor. The present is from Mom.

It was a cool princess card and a squeaky toy! I know I don't look too excited. I'm not a morning doggie.

When Mom got home from work, we had our supper and then we headed over to our neighbor's house.

At my neighbor's house, they had a birthday party for me!

See that red bed in the back? That's my main present from Mom and my neighbor. It's a fancy memory foam, pillow top, orthopedic doggie bed!  The blue rug is new for me, too. It's memory foam, too. And all of those bags...TOYS!

Mom tried to make me pose again with that stupid princess party hat, but I was NOT in the mood.

I tried to roll it off of me.

Once the hat was off, it was time to play with my new froggie toy.

Then it was time for cake! Mom ordered me a princess birthday cake from Lainey's Pawtique & Bakery.

Mom tried to make me pose with my cake.

I had enough of that, though, and started barking at her. "I WANT TO EAT CAKE!"

It was yummy in my tummy! Mom found some beef-flavored doggie ice cream to go with it.

My cake was pumpkin flavored, so Mom and my neighbor had pumpkin bars for humans while I ate my cake. We all ate on birthday plates, of course.

To top off my evening, I got a birthday Greenie.

I actually saved the Greenie for after Mom and I got back home to our house.

Then I covered my new, fancy dog bed with Greenie goo. HE HE HE

I'm a pretty lucky pup. This was an awesome birthday!

My 12th Birthday, Part 2

I promised you more good stuff from my birthday...well, here it is!

I had my very first, full-fledged birthday PARTY!  Mom and I went over to our cool neighbor's house and the three of us had a party.  Seriously.  And our neighbor really, really went all-out to help us celebrate.  (She ROCKS!)

She put up a big banner that said, "Happy Birthday Buttons," and she had two GIANT balloons.

One balloon looks like a doggy.  The other one plays music when you tap it. "Ceeeeelebrate good times, come on!"

Since the balloons were up by the ceiling and I have tiny little legs, Mom pulled the balloons down to show me.

On the floor beneath the balloons and banner, our neighbor put PRESENTS.

Lots and lots and lots of presents for ME.  And a new doggie bed that's super-duper soft.  And a new blanket.  And a card that had a picture of a white doggie on it that sorta looks like me!

Before I started opening the presents, we had some other business to attend to.  CAKE.

Mom actually tried to take pictures of me with my hat and cake before we went over to our neighbor's house.  So these next few pics are from earlier in the evening.

Anyway, Mom got my cake and my hat from Lainey's Pawtique.

I was not a fan of the hat.

But I still managed to lick the cake frosting while Mom was trying to take pictures.

Then I got the hat OFF.

Had to pose one more time...

And then I went right back to licking until Mom rudely took the cake away. She said I had to wait until we went to our neighbor's house for the party.

When we got over there, and before we opened presents, Mom tried to make me pose AGAIN with my cake. That was absurd.

I just went back to licking my frosting.

And I nearly got the little "princess" candy piece off of the top of the cake before Mom brought out the stupid HAT again. I started barking at our neighbor, hoping she would help me out.  She just took pictures, too. Hrmph.

But after that, it was time to EAT.  Mom and our neighbor had chocolate people cake.  I had my special Lainey's carob and strawberry cake and some Frosty Paws (doggie ice cream).

Nom nom nom nom nom.

Nom nom nom nom nom.  (That's the special plate Mom got me two years ago. It's reserved for birthday cake.)

 Nom nom nom nom nom.

After I ate most of the frosting and some of the cake, it was time for me to open my presents.

Played and wore myself out with the first present and had to take a little snooze.

Opening more...

Another one...

Playing and plucking.

Mom has no idea what I was doing here, sitting in all of the tissue paper, but she said I had to post this pic because she thinks it's just hysterical.  (Whatever...)

And even though it wasn't HER birthday party, our cool neighbor gave Mom these super pretty flowers.  She said they were for taking such good care of the Princess (a.k.a., ME).

It was an awesome, totally cool, super duper party.  I got a little overwhelmed, though, by all of the new stuff.  We had to leave early 'cause I was so pooped.

Here's my "I'm sooooo tired" face.

These are the nice presents from my neighbor:

And I can tell you for a fact that the new bed is SUPER soft and comfy.

WHAT a day, don't you think???

Ripped Off

I've been ripped off.  Cheated.  Thoroughly jipped.

Conned.  Hoodwinked.

Bamboozled.

Betrayed.

Mom was looking in the freezer today and she found THIS:

Yes, my friends.  That's what was left of MY birthday cake.  She froze it and forgot it.  I NEVER GOT TO FINISH IT!!!

If you look closely at that pic you'll also see it once said "Happy 10th Bday Buttons."  I'm gonna be 12 years old on September 18, so that cake is two years old!

And just to make things even worse, Mom also found THIS:

Seriously.  Can you believe it?!  That's my birthday cake from last year!  I didn't even get to taste it!  And MOM let it get FREEZER-BURNED!

I barked at Mom to voice my utter disappointment in her.

In Mom's defense, I suppose I should point out that my old allergy pills gave me bad stomach problems around my birthday the last two years.  We didn't know it was the allergy pills doing it, though.  I got pretty sick each year.  (Let's just say Mom had to use a loooot of carpet cleaner...)

One year I had to start a special food trial, too, and couldn't have anything to eat but that special food for 8 weeks.

But that's really no reason for BOTH birthday cakes to sit in the freezer when this little pup could have been eating them.

Mom felt bad.  (As well she should!)  And since I ate most of my kibbles for supper tonight, I got to eat cake.

See?  That's two-year-old, still-partially-frozen birthday cake in my bowl.

I chowed down.  Mom could barely take that picture.  Most of her pics were of the top of my head, snarfing down that cake.  Like this one:

I sense a lot of cake in my future!  And that Mom of mine better still get me a new cake this year...

Oh, by the way...if anyone wants to get me a birthday squeaky, one of these balls would work just fine. Or this hedgehog. Or...well...anything from the first couple of pages of new dog toys...  He he he.  I am gonna be 12 soon, you know...
