Another Stand-Off

On our walk tonight, I decided that we were going to go visit our neighbor.

She lives right over there.

So I decided to go visit, but sadly, that's as close as I got to her house. I stood there and stood there and stood there. Mom rudely refused to let me go visit because she "claimed" she had laundry and dishes to do.

I think maybe she knows that our neighbor is my favorite person...

Ongoing Battles

One morning late last week, Mom put her clean work shirt on the bed and went off to brush her teeth. I couldn't pass that up that wonderful opportunity.

White dog + clean black shirt = pure ornery brilliance.

Unfortunately, Mom retaliated with this...

Yes, my friends, she made me take another bath. She claimed that I had poo on my hiney and that I needed that medicated shampoo for my scabby allergy spots. Personally, however, I feel this was purely an act of vengeance on her part.

Call PETA. Baths are inhumane.

Little Mischief

You know I've got a little ornery side, right?

A while back, Mom discovered that I shredded a bag of her old mail that she had on the floor on the side of the bed. (She's not the tidiest housekeeper.)  She cleaned up the scraps and figured that was the last of that.

She was wrong.

Because I found another bag of old mail.

Mom heard me messing around under the bed the other night and had to investigate. This is what she discovered:

The boxes are Mom's. Everything else -- toys, papers, shredded sacks -- is my handiwork. I pulled the bag of mail under the bed, shredded the bag and the papers, and added toys to the mix! Awfully big mess for such a little pup, don't you think?  I'm quite proud of it.

Of course I had to look all sad when Mom discovered my shenanigans. She can't be upset with a sad doggie.

The pathetic look works every time with her. She can't resist it.

Now it's time to nap while she cleans up after me.

It's tough to be a pup.

Kibble War

I put myself to bed early tonight. Really early.

It wasn't 'cause I was tired, either.  It's because of THIS:

That, my friends, is a bowl of plain old kibble.  I'm refusing to eat it.  For years I've trained Mom to doctor up my kibble with canned dog food, beef broth, hamburger, rice, etc.  For some unknown reason, however, Mom has been cutting back on the good stuff.  For the last two days, she has only given me nothing but PLAIN OLD KIBBLE.

This is unacceptable.

So, tonight I refused to eat my supper and I put myself to bed early.  There's a method to my madness, though.

You see, when I go to bed, I always get a "night night cookie."  That's right...a treat for going to bed.  So since I was refusing to eat my kibble, I decided to just go to bed for my night night cookie instead.  I was hungry, after all.

Brilliant plan, if I do say so myself!

I barked at Mom from the bedroom until she brought me my cookie.  (That way she knew I was serious.)  Then I scarfed it down!

It was yummy!

This was really a brilliant move on my part.  Totally got Mom to give me a cookie and avoided the plain old kibble.

And of course I gave Mom my "GIVE ME MORE COOKIES" look to try to get another one out of her.

Sadly, that didn't work as well.

And now I need to point out something a bit unusual in the very first picture I posted tonight.  Here it is again:

See that pink spot in my chin furs?  Here's a zoomed-in version:

That's a scrap of one of the magazines I've been shredding under Mom's bed.  She caught me red-handed tonight.  Oopsie...

At least Santa already came...and I already got a cookie tonight...

Mischief Abounds

I suppose I should really cool it with the ornery stuff since it's getting so close to Christmas.  For some reason, however, I just can't seem to stop myself!

This past weekend, for example, Mom and I were visiting our cool neighbor and I sniffed out a bag of rawhides. Our neighbor got them for a Christmas present for another doggy.  I didn't care.  I could smell what was in that bag and I wanted it. So, I barked.

And I barked.

And barked.

I wouldn't give up on getting those rawhides.  Even when they distracted me and hid the bag.

After about a bazillion minutes of my constant barking, Mom finally got tired of it.  Instead of giving me the rawhides, however, she said we had to go home early from our visit because "someone" wouldn't behave.  Oops.

Last night, then, some more of my mischief came to light.  I'd been working on this one for a long, long time. You see, Mom had a bag of old magazines, papers, and letters that was on the floor on the side of her bed.  Over time, I pulled the bag underneath the bed and proceeded to shred both the bag and its contents.

In the middle of the night, of course, when Mom was sleeping.

She knew I was up to something under there, but she wasn't quite sure what.  I blew my cover, however, when I started dragging stuff out the opposite side of the bed...

"Where on earth did all of these shredded papers come from, Mom?!"

You'll note that there's a mix of dog toys and one of Mom's socks in that mess, too.

I tried to look all innocent.

I guess there's no hiding the mess, though.

Maybe Santa won't care???

Agitating

If you've followed my blog for any length of time, then you probably know that I have a bit of an ornery side.  Yes, I'm good at agitating.  It's a talent.

For example, here's a bit of my work from earlier today:

See what I did there?  Those are some neighbor dogs.  They started barking at me when Mom and I walked by.

So what did I do?  I gave them a stare down and then I PEED right in front of their door.  Oh, yeah.  I marked "their" yard and there wasn't a thing they could do about it.  Let me zoom in so you can see the looks on their faces...

Mmmwwwaaaahahahaha!  (That's my evil laugh.)

Potting Soil

Mom knocked over a houseplant last night. She had to get some new potting soil out and repot the plant, but since it was already way past our bedtime, she left the dirt to clean up today.

Yep.  That's right.  Dirt...on the carpet.  I saw an opportunity for some fun.

And I took that opportunity.

See what I did there?  I found some toys in a toy box nearby and I piled them in the dirt!  It was brilliant, I tell you. Dirty, squeaky fun.

And although she didn't say so out loud, I'm sure Mom saw the brilliance in my plan.  I mean, she HAD to have seen how cool that was to do, right?

I even ended up spreading some of the dirt on top of the toys.  Oh, what fun!  The only downside is that Mom says the toys need to take a bath now, along with the carpet.  Doesn't matter to me, of course, as long as I don't have to get in that bathtub myself!

I'd prefer to nap.

Brilliant mischief can make a pup tired, you know...

Taking Drastic Measures

Last night Mom and I went to our awesome neighbor's house. (She's the neighbor who has TOYS and COOKIES for me and the other doggies who live nearby. Thus, she totally rocks!!!)

I found a really cool toy at my neighbor's house and I played with it the entire time Mom and I were there. But when I tried to take the cool new toy home, Mom had the audacity to say NO. Can you believe that?!

Mom's weak reasoning was that the toy wasn't actually a doggie toy but something called a "stress ball" for peoples. She didn't want me to pluck it and end up eating the stuff from the inside.

WHATEVER.

Tonight we went back for another quick visit with our neighbor, and I got my little paws on that toy AGAIN!!! Mom tried to take it away from me -- again, she kept saying she didn't want me to break it open...and again I say WHATEVER. Crazy woman.

So drastic measures had to be taken. Can you see what I did?

Let me give you a blurry close-up picture...

That's right. I went into hiding with the blue toy! Any time Mom got close to me, I ducked behind that big chair so she couldn't take it away. I refused to come out of my hidey spot the entire visit because they were NOT going to take that toy away from me again! That toy didn't leave my mouth, either.

When Mom was putting on her coat to leave -- and actually started to leave without me 'cause I refused to budge -- then I finally came out. I got all flustered, though, and Mom somehow managed to TAKE THE TOY AWAY again!

UGH!

I need to work on that part of my toy plan, I suppose. Next time I think I'll leave the toy behind the chair where they can't get to it...

Mom and the neighbor both keep saying that they think I'll forget about that toy being there. I think, however, that we all know better.

Determination...

I've decided that I should be able to get into my tent through the little space where the tunnel connects to the tent itself. Mom tells me I'm too big to fit through there and that I should just use the door instead. I'll show her...

Almost got my head stuck once tonight already. Oops. But I'm going to still keep trying anyway...
