It was rainy and icky on Halloween, so Mom didn't take me trick-or-treating. She did make me wear my costume for a trial run, though.
This year I was a monkey.
The hood on the costume sorta gave me an instant eye lift. But, on the plus side, the costume came with a squeaky banana! That was FUN. Well, except for when Mom forced me to stop playing so she could take a picture...
Luckily for me, Mom's camera died at that point. So, she plugged it in to charge. When she did that, I started rolling on my squeaky banana and managed to roll myself completely out of my monkey costume! Then, I attacked it and plucked that monkey fur like crazy.
Mom pulled the camera off of the charger and got this pic...then the camera died again. He he he.
So on Friday I had another appointment at the vet. The vet wanted to see me again to see if my skin infection and allergies were better yet. Mom decided that I should be a monkey at the vet's office, so I went in costume.
It took five weeks of antibiotics and a month of steroids, but I beat that stupid infection! The vet said I was finally all better. In fact, she said that she'd never seen my skin looking so good! And of course the vet and all of the techs oohed and aahed over my costume. They even took pictures!
Then after a nasty shot in my hiney (I was overdue for something-or-other), we were back in the car to head home. When we got home, Mom made me a monkey yet again...
And then we were off to trick-or-treat at our favorite neighbor's house!
The hood didn't stay up long. I hated that thing.
Trick or treat!!!
When I went inside I checked out the goods. The blanket, "Princess" bowl of water, blue bowl of milkbones, and the bully sticks -- those are normally out for me. (My neighbor ROCKS.)
On this visit, though, my neighbor had a sack of toys out special for this trick-or-treating monkey! I rolled on it. Just rolled and rolled on the entire sack.
I played for a little bit, then I announced to both Mom and my neighbor that I was DONE with the monkey costume.
I was sure a hit with the people at the vet's office and with the neighbor. Glad Halloween is over, though...enough of that monkey business!

Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! (O.K., so maybe it's Happy Two-Days-After Halloween now because Mom's been slacking on my blog time...)
This year Mom conspired with my neighbor and they decided that I needed to wear this peacock costume for Halloween.
I actually didn't mind it too much. Mom and I had a disagreement about whether or not the peacock hat was a squeaky toy. She seemed to think I should wear it, not attack it. Once it was on my head, though, I left it there.
I strutted my stuff all of the way over to our neighbor's house!
Well, I had to make one little detour to take care of some business... (Mom says she assumes this was to voice my displeasure at having to wear a costume.) I was a poopin' peacock.
Here I am at our neighbor's patio... "TRICK OR TREAT!"
The neighbor had her camera, too, and refused to open the screen door until I was properly photographed. If you look closely you'll see a few little leaf things stuck in the fur on my chin. Those things get stuck on me every single time I sniff the trees near my neighbor's place.
The best part about my peacock costume was that it actually had a coordinating peacock SQUEAKY TOY!!! Seriously. Can you believe that? I attacked, of course.
Is it cannibalism to see a peacock chewing on a peacock? He he he.
And you KNOW I had to roll on that squeaky toy...
Still rolling...
My totally awesome neighbor had a bag of Halloween squeakies waiting for me for my trick or treating. Yep. A BAG of Halloween squeaky toys! And she put out a BOWL of Milkbones for me, too!
Now here's where the evening took a slightly evil turn...
Yep. Mom brought another costume. She thought she'd display my ornery side by dressing me like a little devil.
I put up with it...
but I really just wanted to play with my new toys.
So I told Mom and our neighbor just how I felt!
Thankfully, we got down to business playing tug, bitey face, etc., right after that. It was awesome.
After a while, however, Mom decided to torture me again with yet another outfit.
Seriously.
Sure, the skeleton pajamas are cute, but I think you can tell that I was NOT amused.
But then I got another new toy, so the skeleton PJs were quickly forgotten.
And I played and played and played.
Tushy shot:
Then Mom and I walked back home. She left the skeleton PJs on me. Lots of people ooh'd and aah'd over me on the way.
Mom and my neighbor decided that they liked the peacock outfit the best. I have to admit that I do make a cute little peacock.
Would you believe they went out shopping today and found TWO more costumes to put back for next year?! I'm doomed.

Trick or Treat!
With all of the pictures that Mom's always taking of me, you'd think that she would have remembered to take the camera with her when we went to trick or treat at my neighbor's house. But nooooo. Mom forgot. Can you believe that?!
My neighbor loved my princess costume, though, and she even took some pictures of me herself. Mom's going to try to get copies. The most important thing to tell you about my trick or treating at my neighbor's house, however, is the fact that I got another toy!
Ta dah!

Mom remembered to grab the camera when we went to go to another friend's house. She took this picture of me on the way. Now, keep in mind that the priness dress is poofy. I'm not that fat.
But then of course Mom forgot to take pictures again once we got to that friend's house. It's really hard to get good help these days...

Anipal Photo Hunt #11: Trick or Treat!
The theme for this
week's Anipal Photo Hunt is "Trick or Treat!" Unfortunately, I have plenty of material for this theme. I've got a few costumes. Yes, I said "a few."
Last year at my foster home I was dressed as a piggy for Halloween. It was appropriate since I make piggy noises all the time. And my foster sis Shawnee was dressed as the Big Bad Wolf, too, so that made the costume cooler. Here's a pic of us that I stole from Shawnee's blog:

I call this outfit "The Grapes of Wrath."

Shawnee sent my piggy costume to my new home after I got adopted. So I could have been a piggy for Halloween. But Mom decided that maybe I needed something different.
I call this outfit "The Grapes of Wrath."

So I got a grape outfit, too. BUT that's not what I'm wearing for trick or treating tomorrow. See, my buddy Boris sent me a special costume in the mail and Mom decided that it's the winner for this year. So, this year for Halloween...I'm dressing as a princess! This costume is perfect with my princess tent! And it really is adorable, don't you think?

Yes, I rolled in it. Tried to pluck the hat like I pluck my squeaky toys, too. Mom said that wasn't allowed. Hrmph.
Happy Halloween!

Surprise in the Mail
The mail man brought me a surprise package today!

There was a sort of downside to the surprise package from Shawnee. You know what else she sent me? A piggy costume! UGH! It was the piggy Halloween costume that Shawnee's groomer gave me when I was living with my foster family. You see, I make lots of piggy noises all of the time, so they thought it was sort of appropriate to dress me like a piggy for Halloween.

Guess who it was from...my former foster sis Shawnee! She sent me a brand new monkey toy, and it made super-loud monkey sounds. Here's the card she included.
She saw all about how my other monkey toy fell apart so she sent me a new one! Shawnee is so sweet, isn't she? She even taped some of her furs in the card, so it was almost like she was here with me! I sniffed those furs for a while. Even napped on top of the card once tonight.
The monkey is really fun to play with. It's got lots of furs on it, and it's very fun to pluck at.
I played a LOT with that monkey tonight! I even used him as a pillow while I napped for a bit.

I thought I'd seen the last of that silly costume when I came to live with my new Mom. I guess not!
I actually think Shawnee and my Mom conspired against me or something. Why else would Shawnee suddenly send that piggy costume out of the blue? My Mom got SO excited about getting it in the mail, too. Seemed sort of fishy to me.
Mom made me wear it tonight while she took pictures. It was humiliating. I refused to cooperate, too, since I was playing with my new monkey.
By the way, have you ever seen a piggy pluck the fur off a monkey?
I even rolled on (well...maybe "near" instead of "on") my new monkey while wearing the piggy costume.
Silly piggy costume. Honestly, what on earth is my Mom thinking? WHY is she making me wear this outfit?!
I suppose I should be honest with you, though. You see, I think the piggy costume was one of the things that made my new Mom fall in love with me. She knew all about me, of course, and she even sent me some toys at my foster home. But I'm pretty sure the pictures that Shawnee posted of me in my piggy costume must have sealed the deal because it wasn't too long after that that I found out I was going to get a forever and ever family.
So maybe the piggy costume isn't so bad after all... Oink, oink, oink.
