Adopt the Internet Day!

I haven't been able to post lately 'cause Mom had surgery on her hand. She can only type with one hand now, and let me just say that she is really cramping my style. Anyway...

Today's Petfinder's birthday! To celebrate, I want to talk about the adoption option.

You know that I'm cute. And I'm funny. And I make lots of people smile 'cause of my antics. BUT did you know that I'm a rescue doggie? That's right! I'm here today because my Mom adopted me a year and a half ago.

I even had a Petfinder page out there all about me.

So, with over 320,000 animals on Petfinder now, can you imagine all of the possible cuteness and funniness and antics out there, just waiting for a home? Consider adoption!

And in the spirit of Adopt the Internet Day, I'd like to introduce you to two little boys out on Petfinder right now. Meet Willie and Waylon:

Willie and Waylon are brothers who are about 6 months old. They're Chihuahua and Miniature Schnauzer mixes at Genesis Animal Rescue in Mattoon, Illinois. The boys are about the size of some of my squeaky toys -- only 4 lbs each! I hope these little cuties find their forever home soon.

And now, since this post has taken Mom hours to type one-handed, I'm going to simply end with a little cuteness of my own...

Name Game

Several friends have posted on their blogs about Frankie Furter's Name Game. I thought I'd join in the fun...

Want to know where my name came from? Well...so does my Mom! He he he. We actually have no idea why my name is Buttons. Maybe it's 'cause I'm as cute as a button?

What I can tell you, though, is a really cool story about how we know what my name is. You see, I'm a rescue doggie, and Buttons was my very first name back when I was a puppy. It's amazing that we know my first name since I've lived in several different homes and I was even dumped on the street.

So you want to know how we know? It's all thanks to my microchip!

That's right...I got a microchip when I was a puppy. The microchip told my foster mom that my name is Buttons. (It's nice when people know your name!) The microchip also played a part in figuring out who dumped me on the street. And guess what...the police got that naughty person, too!

Do YOU have a microchip? If you're a doggie or kitty, have your parents talk to your vet about getting one! If you're a person, well, I don't think they do that for people...

Questions Game

My former foster sis Shawnee asked me some questions in a blog game. I'm supposed to answer the questions and then pick 5 new questions and 5 new friends to answer them. So here are Shawnee's questions for me...

Wot be you fave toy or stuffie?

My favorite toy is whichever one I'm in the mood for at the time! Right now, though, my purple piggy, my brown bear, and my fox are the ones I'm using the most. (Mom wishes I liked quieter toys...)

Wot is the one thing you would most like to change about the werld?

Hmmm...I really wish Mom didn't have to work. I'd rather have her here with me all of the time. But I suppose that's not changing something about the world.

You know what? I think what I'd like to change is how all humans feel about doggies. If all humans loved doggies the way my Mom loves me, then I wouldn't have had to go through so much bad stuff in my life. I wouldn't have had so many different homes...and I wouldn't have been dumped out on the street like that. So, yeah...if I could change something in the world, I'd totally make humans LOVE dogs...and kitties, too, of course.

Definitely human mind control. Can you imagine how many toys and cookies I'd get?!

That's an easy one! There's a large pile of squeaky toys...some smaller toys around the pile...and some COOKIES near the small toys!

o.k. So those are my answers to Shawnee's questions! Now I'm supposed to think up 5 new questions and ask 5 friends to answer them. But you know what? I think most of my friends have already answered questions. So, I'm gonna go play with some toys instead of thinking up any questions. Now, where's that cricket toy at? Hmmm...

Mutt Strut

Next weekend Mom and I are going to the Mutt Strut! Neither of us have ever gone, but Mom says it sounds like fun. Let's hope it is! The Mutt Strut is a fundraiser for our local humane society. Mom says that there will be lots of doggies there and that we'll all take a walk together and then play games and stuff. I sure hope I don't get sniffed too much. If so, Mom's going to totally owe me a new toy.

But I suppose getting over-sniffed isn't too bad if it's for a good cause, right? Mom says that all of the money raised during the Mutt Strut will go to help the animals in the shelter. And I would have been in a shelter two years ago myself if a rescue group hadn't taken me in off the street. So we've got to help those shelters and shelter animals. They all need good forever homes like me!
