This weekend Mom and I went to Grandma's house to help her plant flowers. Mom made a big mess on Grandma's patio. She got potting soil all over!
See that mess behind me? Mom's lucky 'cause Grandma got the broom and swept up all that dirt for her.
My cousin Hoss came over while Mom and I were planting flowers. He helped supervise. Here's a picture of Hossy and I checking out some activity over in the neighbor's yard.
Isn't he a silly boy? (Yes, that white blur in this picture is my booty!)
We spent a lot of time outside at Grandma's house 'cause it was a nice day. I sat under Mom's chair a lot of the time, but I did sit out in the grass some, too.
Mom planted a bazillion flowers and I got to see Hoss and Grandma. Pretty good visit in my opinion!
My Grandpa had been sicky for years. He had something called "Parkinson's Disease." (I'm a smart doggie...but I still have no idea what that means.) Of course he only got to be my Grandpa last November when Mom adopted me. I still loved him lots, though. He was a really good Grandpa to me.
Anyway, Grandpa got super sick almost two weeks ago, and he passed away yesterday morning. Mom's got really leaky eyes these days. Grandpa was Mom's daddy. I've tried to help Mom by being a super good girl at all of the sleepovers I've been on. I guess doggies aren't allowed in critical care units in hospitals, so I couldn't go with Mom on all of her trips to see Grandpa. She was gone all night long several times, too. So that's why I stayed at Snickers' house and then Molly's house, too. And Mom got those reports that I've been really good each time she's been away. (She told me that Snickers' dogsitters even want me to come back!)
I did get to go see Grandpa once when he was in the nursing home. That was fun. LOTS of people wanted to pet me. Mom said that a woman even came to Grandpa's room the next day, looking for me. I was quite popular.
Mom doesn't have many pictures of me with my Grandpa, but she did find these two. In the first one, Grandpa was watching Hossy and I chew on Hossy's huge rawhide bone.
And later that day, Hossy and I both took naps with Grandpa. (I'm that little white ball beside him on the couch.)
Goodbye, Grandpa! We love you and we'll miss you. Please give Lexi-Lou lots of pets and lots of cookies from Mom and me.
Yeah, you read this post's title right...I got TWO new toys!!!
Aren't they cool?
I think I've already told you that we've got a rule in our house. Any time Mom goes shopping and brings home bags of stuff, one bag MUST include a squeaky toy for ME. I personally dig through all of her bags until I find the toy. Well...that chicken toy was in a bag this weekend when Mom got groceries!
And you know where that pink and purple elephant toy came from? I went to see my Grandma and Grandpa yesterday, and Grandma had it for me! Actually, the last few times I've been at her house, Grandma has given me a new toy each time. Isn't that awesome? My new Grandma rocks!
My cousin Hoss stole my elephant a couple of times yesterday. I just waited for him to put it down, though, and then I'd swipe it right back! Then Grandma put it up where neither of us could reach it 'cause she was afraid that Hoss would tear up my new elephant. Darn it. But I got to bring it home with me and I've been playing with it today.
Alrighty. Enough chat. It's time for pictures and videos of me in action with the new toys!
The squeaky chicken is really loud. I decided that it was fun to bat it around and make it squeak that way.
And here's another video of me rolling on the chicken.
After all of that playing, I had to take a little break. I settled in to nap with the chicken.
And here are some pics of me rolling on my pink and purple elephant! (OK...so I didn't really roll ON it much, but beside it. I need to work on my aim.)
Played fetch with the elephant, too.
Mom kept trying to get me to pose pretty with the elephant, but this was about as good as she could get. Yes, I was being ornery.
Anyway, I love my new elephant toy. Thanks, Grandma!
Toy Inventory Update
Let's see... I'm not gonna keep counting the squirrels and bees as "one" toy 'cause I play with the pieces. So I'm officially separating them. And with all of those, and the two new toys, my inventory count is now at 81 toys. Woo hoo! Wonder how long it will take me to reach 100?
Today I got a box in the mail. It was addressed to me and not to Mom.
Hmmm...what could it be? I dove right in! (Well, I dove in as soon as Mom opened the box for me.)
At the last PawPawty, I won a prize from Montreal Critters. My prize was in the box! It's a cool Kong doggie toy. I grabbed it and took it to my doggie bed before Mom could even take the packaging off.
It's a really fun toy. Super bouncy. Mom was throwing it down the hallway and it was bouncing off of the walls, doors, and door frames. It bonked me in the head once, but I'm o.k.
I've been playing with it all evening.
Played with my Kong in my round bed, too, of course. And yes, I flipped the bed upside down...and then I sat on the upside-down bed. (I do this a lot.)
I thought that if I spit the Kong out, then maybe Mom would stop taking so many pictures of me. I was wrong...
Anyway, my cousin Hoss has a Kong that's really big. His Kong is black. I think I know why he likes it now...my red Kong is super-fun!
Mom and I went to visit Grandma and Grandpa again. Grandma had to go see a special doctor yesterday and she was ouchy after the doctor, so Mom and I went to help out. Hoss was at Grandma and Grandpa's house when we got there. Here's a picture of my cousin Hoss.
Hoss is a very big doggy. He's cool, though. I've seen him a few times, and we're getting along really well. I was scared of him the first time we met, but we're good now. In fact, I thought that we were good enough friends for me to do this...
That's right...I stole part of Hoss' bone! He he he.
He was cool with it, though, and we actually shared the pieces of the bone. He took the big piece and I took the little end of the bone. (I'm calling it "little," but it was practically the size of my head.)
But then when he took a nap later...I stole the big piece!
Mom was afraid that Hoss was gonna be upset with me 'cause of me stealing his bones, so she put them up where neither of us could reach them. How rude!!! I don't think Hossy noticed that Mom put the bones away. I sure missed them, though.
Now, don't be feeling too bad for Hoss about me stealing his bones because he's a swiper, too. Grandma gave me a cool new squeaky toy...and Hoss kept stealing it! He tears toys up really fast, so I was scared he was gonna ruin my new toy. Mom was scared he was gonna choke on it 'cause it's a little toy and he's a huge doggy. So, Mom put my new toy up, too, so that neither of us could play with it. But I've got it back now, so we're all good.
So Hoss was at Grandma and Grandpa's house for most of the time we were there, too. Here's a picture of Hoss and I in the backyard last night.
Mom and I went night-night in Grandma's living room. Grandma got a new air bed thingy so that I wouldn't hog the couch and keep Mom up all night. (Party pooper!) Hoss didn't go night-night with us, but he came back to Grandma's early today. Here's a picture of Hoss and I playing outside this morning.
Don't worry. That's Hossy's black kong toy under him in the snow. That's not poo. (He he he!)
Now I'm sure you're wondering what mischief I might have gotten into at Grandma's house (besides the bone stealing, of course). I am happy to report that I didn't get into anything. Nope. Nothing at all...but that's probably just 'cause Mom caught me each time I tried to start climbing...
I'm happy to report that Grandma wasn't feeling as ouchy today, so Mom and I came back home. I was really tired, so I slept the whole drive home.
And this is how I've spent my evening...
I had fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house, but it's sure nice to be home on my couch!
I'm an 13-year-old Shih Tzu named Buttons. I love toys. And cookies. And getting into trouble. And toys. And more toys. And then some more squeaky toys.
