A note from Buttons' Mom...
This blog has been quiet lately in part because Buttons herself quieted down a bit. In February Buttons was diagnosed with primary pulmonary hypertension and secondary heart failure. The pressure in her lungs was basically causing her heart to fail. Her cardiologist said that our goal was to get Buttons to her birthday with quality of life. We passed that goal in September.
Over the last few weeks, however, Buttons has been having more and more trouble with her tummy. Yesterday, our regular vet discovered a large mass in Buttons' stomach. Buttons was in pain, and it was time to let her rest.
Buttons passed peacefully in my arms this afternoon, the 6th anniversary of her Gotcha Day.
Rest in peace, Princess Buttons. Rest in peace...

Buttons… my sweet friend. Words describe how much you made a difference in the world. Your life was rich and you used your time, energy and spirit here on earth to make things better. I love (lub) you Buttons, as I do your momma. I will keep an eye on her, as I know you will, and make sure only goodness and joy shine on her life. I refuse to say goodbye Buttons, only I will see you and speak with you differently now that you've passed in to your next chapter. God Bless.

ReplyDeletePepiSmartDog: Pepi's mom Michele: I am so sorry to read about dear Buttons making her journey across the Rainbow Bridge. So very sad that she crossed on her Gotcha Day. : (
ReplyDeleteI know Pepi would have been there to meet her and drive her to her Welcome Banquet where all her earlier family and pals would have been gathered to greet her.
On the day you find yourself unexpectedly standing on the Rainbow Bridge, Buttons will be there to meet you. You will be a forever family again...not just yet.
Please know you are in my prayers. ((((((HUGS)))) XOXO
I am so sorry to hear about Buttons. My heart goes out to you at this sad time. She was so lucky to find such a wonderful person to be her mom and to know when it was time for her to leave surrounded by love. Sending hugs to from me and mum. Run free over the Rainbow bridge, sweet girl xx
ReplyDeleteMy deepest sympathy to you and your family. Keep all the good memories safe in your heart forever.
ReplyDeleteButtons, your bright smile will be missed, but we know you are always with us. We're here to give your mum a hug when she needs one and hope you visit us soon, beautiful Angel Buttons.

I'm so sorry about sweet Buttons. I remember when she was a foster dog with Shawnee. She had such a wonderful home with you and lots of love.
ReplyDeleteButtons had a long life and we imagine a great one with you, but we know how painful it is to lose a furry friend. Sending a warm hug, purrs and paw taps of comfort!
ReplyDeleteWe have leaky eyes again. We are so sorry Buttons had to cross that bridge. But you did the right thing as you wouldn't want that sweet little precious girl to suffer or be in pain. We are so blessed to have met her and you, Emily, when we had that meetup. I'll never forget either one of you. I am so happy you have the kitties around. They won't replace Buttons, but they will keep you busy and make you laugh. That will be good. Big HUGS.
ReplyDeleteOh Buttons. You fought a good fight, but I guess it was time to rest. Mom and I both have leaky eyes. Much love and blessings to Emily to help heal your broken heart. This is the hard part of loving - having to say good-bye. *sniff*
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to learn of your loss -
ReplyDeleteYou gave her a great life -
And in the end, that is all we can do for them!
We'll watch for some signs from Angel Buttons's that all is well at The RB!

To Buttons and Mommy - You didn't know me but we have been following your bloggie for a long time. We don't talk much but always enjoyed reading about your adventures; loved the way you squeaked your stuffies on your back! My Mommy and I were so sad to hear you made the trip over the Rainbow Bridge. I am a 14 year old rescued Shih Tzu; we sure know how to wiggle our way into our peoples' hearts, right. Run free Buttons.
